As I reached for yet another package of pre-made chocolate chip cookies in the grocery store this weekend, I decided that something needed to change. Those gooey, tastey cookies not only cost too much, they have a lot of bad stuff in them that I don’t want to feed my body or my baby. Today I did a little Google search and came across this recipe for Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies.
I doubled the recipe so that I could bake half and freeze the other half (hence replacing the need for the store-bought dough!). Other than doubling all of the ingredients I did not make any changes to the recipe as I went, but if I make them again, I will probably use just a bit less sugar and add walnuts. Oh, and I rolled the dough with my hands rather than dropping spoonfuls on the cookie sheet because the dough was a tad bit crumbly.
Did I mention that you get the added bonus of knowing exactly what is in your cookies and knowing that your own hands mixed that up!
I spent my weekend resting and saving up my energy for work this week–that’s what you have to do when you’re pregnant. These cookies were a great way to cap off the weekend and prepare for the week as well! I’ll enjoy one for you until you can make some too.
